Client Spotlight: The Rowing Association
Since 2021, we have proudly partnered with The Rowing Association, a community of Stanford Rowing alumni, athletes, coaches, and supporters. As our very first client, this collaboration has been instrumental in shaping JensynTheory, and together, we have built a thriving marketing ecosystem from the ground up. Our partnership has been rooted in creating cohesive and impactful messaging that spans all communication channels to drive their mission forward, including email, social media, web, and print.
The Rowing Association emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic following the news that Stanford’s Men’s and Lightweight Women’s rowing teams were being cut. Determined to rally the community and ensure the program’s survival, they sought our expertise to develop a comprehensive marketing strategy. Our goal was to establish a unified brand presence, communicate effectively with their network, and support their fundraising efforts to secure the reinstatement of these teams and ensure long-term support for all three rowing programs.
From the outset, we took a holistic approach to The Rowing Association’s marketing needs, building and managing all key components of their communications strategy. We developed their branding, creating a cohesive visual identity that reflected the strength and unity of the Stanford Rowing community. This included designing a user-friendly website that became the central hub for information, events, and race updates and implementing a donation platform through membership that streamlined fundraising efforts.
To foster deeper connections within their community, we aided in the introduction of a private networking platform built on Softr, enabling alumni and supporters to engage with one another. We also helped to develop a custom CRM system to optimize list management and ensure efficient communication across their growing network. Beyond building these tools, we have continued to provide ongoing support, ensuring that every platform operates seamlessly and aligns with their evolving goals.
Our email marketing efforts have been a cornerstone of their communications strategy. Through Mailchimp and Mandrill, we design custom templates and write and distribute targeted campaigns to keep the community informed and engaged. These efforts have consistently yielded open rates above industry benchmarks, reflecting the strong connection we’ve fostered with their audience.
Social media has played a vital role in amplifying their message. We create dynamic graphics, manage responses to maintain an active presence, and craft posts that keep the community engaged. To complement this, we design and produce high-quality print materials, such as custom fridge magnet mailers featuring the rowing schedule, race day signage for all three Stanford Rowing teams, and development brochures, ensuring their messaging reaches every corner of their audience.
Our content creation extends to producing 2-3 digital magazines annually, showcasing athlete stories, community updates, and in-depth features that strengthen the association’s narrative. Additionally, we attend events to capture authentic photography and ensure that every piece of content—whether digital or print—aligns with their brand identity.
Throughout this partnership, we have taken on a project management role, coordinating across various initiatives, from email campaigns and social media strategies to development communications and event support. We ensure that every project stays on track and that their messaging remains consistent across all platforms.
Our comprehensive efforts have contributed directly to The Rowing Association’s success. The reinstatement of Stanford’s Men’s and Lightweight Women’s rowing teams stands as a testament to the power of effective communication and community engagement.
