WELCOME TO MY VERY FIRST ~ FEELIN’ IT  EDIT ~

THIS SPACE IS BASICALLY A SHORTCUT TO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING I’M INTO DURING WHATEVER MONTH WE’RE IN. THIS MONTH IS APRIL.

FAV BUYS

Ok so I don’t usually use drugstore products- but this BB cream ended up in my cart after I forgot all of my makeup on a recent trip and I am into it. If you have a hard time finding makeup shades that don’t look yellow/ require a ton of work to blend, buy this.

I’ve been raking in the compliments on my new Big Buckle Birks– they’re the bomb y’all. The soles aren’t suede so you don’t have to worry about them smelling like ass and the giant shiny buckles are cute AF. You need these for summer.

My dad got me (and Z) hooked on the Copper Chef products this Christmas- and we recently replaced our old pots and pans with this set. They’re dishwasher safe, nonstick, pretty and allow you to cook without butter and oil. I’m in love.

LEAST FAV BUYS

I try not to be too heavy handed w/ the negativity toward brands/ products on my ‘gram- but I also don’t want y’all to have the impression that I think everything is amaaaaazing. Some things are shitty.

Learn from my buying mistakes below.

AMIKA HIGH TIDE BEACH WAVER (BOO)

The Amika High Tide Beach Waver ($120) sucks lol. I thought it would mimic my natural waves so I could add shape to any unruly pieces when I go without blow drying… nope. The barrels are very shallow- making it hard to find your place while working down the hair shaft. Hair ends up looking messy, frizzy and… homeless. Additionally- the burnt hair smell it creates is unbearable. Not worth the money-

*DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT GOODNIGHT MACAROON BC YOU SEE LITERALLY EVERYONE POSTING IN THEIR CLOTHES*

I made the mistake of falling into the trap of a good sale and shopped at Goodnight Macaroon. In the wise words of Ja Rule…

This website sells cheap renditions of popular styles and takes about a month to ship. (Which I totally missed when ordering) I bought a few Free People knockoffs (which I didn’t realize were knockoffs bc FP sells wholesale to retailers) and a top. The dresses came in nasty, crunchy fabrics and weren’t finished- like. there were raw hems galore. The dresses did fit and will work for taking pics and the occasional short term wear- but the top… was bad. The sleeves were cut so small that I couldn’t even get my forearms inside. In short, it was all a hot mess. I basically threw money in the trash shopping here- so plz don’t buy their shit y’all lol.

STYLE

UGH. Coachella is coming. For the next three months everyone will be wearing peyote approved looks inspired by Cowboys & Aliens- with a dash of cultural appropriation. I, however, will be wearing the same ‘ol shit. The only thing that I’ve switched up in my wardrobe lately is the addition of comfy bottoms- think: soft shorts and flow midi skirts.

Sorry y’all. No #festivalinspo here- bc my idea of festival wear is jorts and a sensible shoe.

JENSYNTHEORIES | (AKA- THE PLACE I PUT MY DEEP-ISH THOUGHTS AND JUICY FINDS)

BYE, MEJURI

I’m a die hard Catbird jewelry fan. I’ve shopped their Brooklyn studio for years and feel completely naked without my religiously worn pieces. Their shop focuses on selling dainty, original jewels by their own studio as well pieces from select artisans- but they are most well known for their teeny tiny stacking and midi rings. When jewelry brand, Mejuri reached out to me to promote one of their “new” lines this year, I felt a sense of deja vu which led me to some interesting finds. A quick scroll though Mejuri’s website and I saw enough familiarity to decide it was best to sever ties.

While there is a lot of overlap in the jewelry world (most pieces are variations of classics) there’s also a line between similarity and stealing. Decide for yourself which side you think Mejuri is on.

From both a product and marketing standpoint… this looks pretty damning if you ask me.

READ THIS

Me Talk Pretty One Day- David Sedaris

This book isn’t new (sorry) but I recently snagged it for a quick humorous read. It’s easily digestible and funny as hell.

It’s relatable- (yet-unrelatable) and great. Read it.

For my WFHomies…

If you haven’t seen this yet… you’re welcome.

SHOWS TO WATCH

  • I know I’m so far behind on this but… Z and I are really digging The Great British Bake Off (Netflix) rn. While I normally hate competition shows- the sheer brutality of this baking contest is so entertaining. I’m hooked. Also, these ppl aren’t even competing for money? WTF!?
  • Obviously, Game of Thrones (HBO) is back and I am so excited to see if the ~Bran is Ice King~ theory is reality. If you don’t know what I’m talking about- read this.
  • Hulu made a horrifying show called The Act, which explores the cringeworthy, batshit crazy life of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and events surrounding the murder of her mother, Dee Dee. I followed this story as the events unfolded, so it’s pretty interesting seeing everything laid out from a different viewpoint.

MUSIC

Here’s a lil playlist of (semi) new releases I’m into-
